Comparisons with other experiences are to be cut!
As the learning between group members develops, facilitators taking on new groups will have to guard against a culture developing by which groups are compared and contrasted with previous groups.
The trap facilitators can fall into is to rival with previous good experiences.
Expressions such as “I hope it is as good as the last time”, or questions from participants, such as “Are we as good as the last group?” are debilitating examples of freedom being driven out of the meeting.
Such examples can involve those who facilitate and those who organise the events. They close down possibilities for those who come to these experiences for the first time.
